Caught in between

Monday, February 19, 2007

These two days.. I've been caught in between-a lot.

I've been going out with my eldest bro and sis-in-law.

And they squabbled at the slightest things. Slightest.

Sigh.. Communication isn't just words. In fact it's everything else. Your tone.. your body languge... your personal radius( Let's get mathemathical)

On the eve, it started out with bro hugging his wife squeezing through the crowds. After the fireworks, it was jammed... EVERYWHERE! Traffic was slow, tempers were flaring. Everyone wanted to get out of the place fast. We were stuck. Can't move an inch.

*squabble*

They were no longer hugging. Bro was walking really fast.. ahead. I spoke to sis... then to bro. Reconciliation. Phew.

Just earlier...bro misplaced his phone. He asked sis...in a rather harsh tone.

*squabble*

We sat in his car, setting out to visit sis' parents. He drove recklessly.

I cried. Told him," Can you don't get angry over the slightest things..."

They made up... and the whole night was peaceful...

Phew.

Acceptance

Woohoo!! It's chinese new year's eve!!

And I'm sick. I'll just watch people grow fat while I abstain from all the goodies.

Hah! As if I will.. This weekend.. I'll go into the SWIM-EAT-SLEEP cycle :D

Yesterday was the last day to put up the new year decorations. It's gonna be the piggy year! All the kids were busily colouring my little piglets. One little boy was what started the colouring frenzy.

P: Miss Quek.. I thought you have something for us to do?

Me: Oh Ya! Wait.. I'll go photocopy the pigs..

Two days ago, his grandma came to me and talked and cried.

Me: Can he go back later? He hasn't finished his work yet.

G: I know he's a naughty boy. But don't call his parents when he's up to mischief.

Me:...

G: His mom would only scold. His dad would only hit him. He's my only grandson and they don't know how to love him.

Tears welled up..

G: I've been taking care of him since he was young..

Is it because he has never been loved by his parents in a way he could understand? Just hitting.. scolding the child when they've done something wrong doesn't mean love. You've got to explain to the child why you did that.

As I was washing the dishes.. I called him to me.

Me: I spoke to your grandma earlier.

P:...

Me: I just want to say that your grandma loves you a lot. Also... Be a good boy. I won't call your parents up, but you have to be a good boy.

P: Ye-s

Me: Wanna help me this friday?

P: Yes!

He needs to be accepted. He needs to be loved.

P: Here Miss Quek! ( he hands me the piglets he has just coloured)

Me: WoW! Nice! Can you cut them?

P: Okie! (beaming away)

I'm happy too :D
